Vision Statement:
The vision for the PDCET is to create communities and related networks of practice that advance the creation and diffusion of knowledge by MSCD faculty and other stakeholders in diverse areas of learning technologies.
Goals:
1. PDCET will provide professional development (PD) and research opportunities to any interested MSCD faculty member.
2. PDCET will also provide opportunities for any other interested stakeholders (e.g., administrators, classified, and industry) to participate in all activities.
3. PDCET will provide professional development and research opportunities to any MSCD students interested in learning about research and advancement of learning technologies.
4. PDCET membership will seek to develop PD related projects such as (a) peer reviewed publications (articles, books, and presentations), (b) related resource materials, and (c) networking opportunities.
5. Develop service related activities such as (a) community and industry outreach programs, (b) faculty mentoring, (c) curriculum enhancement, and (d) support for other college activities (e.g. fall conference, open houses).
Philosophy:
The PDCET is a goal oriented, project driven ongoing faculty organization. Members will be expected to actively contribute towards the goals of the community. The primary form of contact and meeting facilitation will be held in various virtual environments to expose those participating to the various technologies researched. Face-to-face meetings will be held to a minimum, perhaps once a semester, when it is determined by a majority of participants to be appropriate.

At today's meeting (5/14/08), Community members agreed to evaluate the potential for researching instructional design elements used as a case study in 2nd Life. We also talked about doing a Meta-Study regarding learning or usability with Ed Tech by Millennials and B-boomers. Myron is going to help build a library of related Ed Tech tools, and list those on our site.
